Academic Advising Office
This is where you will learn more about the requirements for a degree and various majors. If you have any questions about requirements or want to strategize course enrollment, you’ll want to visit them.
You will meet with an Academic Advisor. This will happen during your college’s orientation process or at the start of your first term. Thereafter, depending on your school, you might meet every term. You can also visit your advisor more often by setting up an appointment or visiting during their walk-in hours.
This service may be housed at a general advising office, or it may be located a discipline’s department. For example, in the department of biology, there will be an advisor who specializes in the major and can advise you regarding your degree and the details of the major. If you run into academic difficulty, have concerns about graduation or want to change your major, go here.
This office will also be able to provide you with assistance making important decisions about a major, advice on what you can do with your degree, and information about opportunities during the school year and after graduation. They should also be able to point you toward helpful resources on and off campus, such as the career center and health office.
